The Polish army was forced to shoot down the drones, while Prime Minister Donald Tusk called Russia’s actions a “large-scale provocation” against NATO territory.

According to the New York Times, Donald Tusk underscored the seriousness of Russia’s move by declaring:
“The situation is serious.”

“No one doubts that we must prepare for various scenarios.”
The Polish Prime Minister said the incident placed the country “closest we have been to open conflict”.

Tusk clarified, however, that there was no reason to say Poland was “on the brink of war”, adding nonetheless:
“A line has been crossed.”
