Several major European countries, including France, Germany, Sweden, Norway and Finland, have sent troops to Greenland alongside Denmark, expanding a NATO-linked military presence in response to what officials describe as an unprecedented threat by one ally against another. The move followed remarks by Donald Trump suggesting the United States could take control of the territory «like it or not», alarming European capitals. While leaders insist the deployment is symbolic and cooperative, focused on Arctic security and alliance coordination, tensions have deepened as Trump reiterated his claims on Truth Social and warned the U.S. would act if Russia or China moved first. Emergency talks failed to resolve a fundamental disagreement.
