- A marketing campaign to celebrate Xbox's 25th anniversary.
- Special Edition: Xbox Series X25.
- Demand from Xbox customers far exceeds supply.
To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Xbox has chosen to mark the occasion with an announcement that will delight video game enthusiasts and early adopters alike.
Since its launch in 2001, the Microsoft brand has established itself as a major player in the video game industry thanks to its innovative consoles, iconic franchises, and constant drive to push the boundaries of interactive entertainment. To mark this historic anniversary, the company is unveiling a special edition of the Xbox Series X inspired by the very first Xbox console.
This commemorative version, to be called the Xbox Series X25, pays homage to the brand's origins by incorporating several visual elements that defined the console's founding generation. Its exclusive design evokes the rugged and bold aesthetic of the original Xbox while integrating the cutting-edge performance of the modern Series X.
Through this limited edition, Xbox aims not only to celebrate its legacy but also to thank the millions of gamers who have accompanied its evolution over the decades.

When and how much?
Microsoft took advantage of the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, presented on June 7 as part of Summer Game Fest, to unveil a major surprise for fans of the brand: a special edition Xbox Series X celebrating 25 years of Xbox.
This announcement is part of the many celebrations surrounding this important anniversary for the company, which has left its mark on the video game industry over the past two decades.
More officially named the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition, this commemorative version stands out for its exclusive design and limited availability. Designed to highlight the brand's journey, it appeals to both collectors and loyal fans of the Xbox ecosystem. Microsoft also unveiled a matching controller to offer fans a unique bundle.
The console will be available starting in November 2026 for $749.99 (US). With this special edition, Xbox celebrates its legacy while reaffirming its ambition to continue innovating and shaping the future of video game entertainment.

Demand Far Outstrips Supply
Despite a reported drop of several million Game Pass subscribers following the price hikes announced in 2025, Xbox still appears to be enjoying strong interest in its products.
According to several industry observers, demand for consoles and special editions remains high, particularly among the most loyal gamers and collectors. In some markets, available supply is struggling to keep up with demand, which helps keep prices high.
“We're producing them as fast as we can. There's a severe limitation on how quickly we can do that, but it's not a question of willingness. It's a privilege for a company. It's a challenge we have to meet,” reveals Asha Sharma, CEO of Xbox.
Demand for Xbox consoles is currently outstripping supply

On the other hand, this pricing strategy is not universally popular. The increase in the cost of subscriptions and certain Xbox products is said to have prompted several consumers to cancel their Game Pass subscriptions over the past year.
This situation illustrates the challenge Microsoft faces: capitalizing on strong demand for its consoles while avoiding alienating a portion of its customer base, which is more sensitive to price increases in an uncertain economic climate.
According to Sharma, Xbox also plans to reassess some of its priorities in the coming years, particularly by placing greater emphasis on the quality of customer service.
The goal is to improve the overall user experience and strengthen community loyalty.
