What We Know About the Accident

According to information released by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), the preliminary investigation indicates that Jayden Dalke was driving the wrong way on Highway 11, between Regina and Lumsden, at the time of the collision, which occurred on Saturday around 9:00 p.m.

Police say the Roughriders linebacker was driving a silver SUV in the southbound lanes while traveling northbound. Authorities also reported that alcohol and cannabis were found in his vehicle, though they have not yet specified whether these substances contributed to the accident.

Dalke's SUV collided with another SUV driven by Bhishma Rajyaguru, a 22-year-old Regina resident. Both men, who were the only occupants of their respective vehicles, died instantly.

The RCMP is continuing its investigation to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy that claimed the lives of both drivers.

Following the death of Bhishma Rajyaguru, his loved ones have launched an online fundraising campaign to help repatriate his remains to India.
