‘My check was in there’: Mail always gets stolen at California woman’s apartment. So they lock the boxes. Then the thieves pull an Uno Reverse

A woman went to check her mail, only to find that the box was missing. Now she's questioning where it went.

A TikTok creator posting as Miss Her (@miss.her777), who says she's in California, walked up to her neighborhood mailbox cluster expecting to grab her mail. Instead, she says, she found an empty concrete pad — the entire locked unit pried off its footing and hauled away.

“Not the mail box,” reads the text laid over her footage. “Wtf is wrong with yall.”

As of this writing, Miss Her's post has received more than 64,000 views.

The theft

Many people assume that mailboxes are secure. Locked. Bolted down. But that wasn't the case when Miss Her checked hers.

“So these are our mailboxes. Right? Locked. Right?” she says, surveying the damage. “But it never fails to be some dumbass bum [expletive]. Who gets to steal our [expletive] mailbox?”

Her anger is specific and personal. She says a check was on the way. “Me waiting for my check in the mail,” reads one caption. In the comment section, someone reportedly tells her the theft wasn't a one-off — a friend over on Florence Street lost their unit too, along with the box next to hers.

She does not send the thief off with a blessing. “I hope you wrote in all your [expletive] karma,” she says. “You miserable dumb [expletive] [expletive].”

What she's describing — her whole cluster box carried off, not just the mail inside — is its own crime. And she's far from the only one staring at a slab where a mailbox used to be.

“What's making me laugh is seeing the bolts and nuts still there, like they properly uninstalled it,” said another commenter.

Another person made a suggestion: “If you have a landlord, make sure they contact the postal inspector. They have the highest close rate for their cases, and they don't [expletive] around about this stuff.”

A slab where the mailbox used to be

In June 2024, a neighbor's security camera in Corona caught two men unbolting a cluster mailbox at 2 a.m. and hoisting it into a truck. “They took the entire unit with them,” resident Lan Gomez told CBS Los Angeles. Between 2023 and 2025, the USPS recorded more than 6,500 incidents of theft.

It's widespread enough to reach Congress. In an August 2023 letter to the Postmaster General, Rep. Ami Bera wrote that at least 105 cluster box units had been “damaged or stolen” across Sacramento County. That was part of a surge that saw more than 25,000 reported cluster-mailbox thefts nationwide in the first three months of that year alone.
