Markstrom's 2021-22 season, however, has one statistic that sets him apart from other goalies: he has collected 9 shutouts!

He's the only one to have that many, and no goalie has managed 8! When it comes to shutouts, he's in a class of his own.

Ah, he also accumulated 10 penalty minutes, making him one of the most punished goalies in the league!

The 27-year-old goaltender has played his entire career in Nashville, but it wasn't until last year that he took over for Pekka Rinne as the #1 goalie.

The Rangers have been waiting for him, as he resisted the North American call. He played 6 seasons in the KHL before landing in the NHL.

It was worth the wait! He's now one of the important cogs in the New York Rangers' rebuilding process.

This rebuild is so rushed that many field hockey analysts believe the Rangers are not as good as their goalie!
