107,436 vehicles recalled by Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and BMW

Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz and BMW have recalled a total of 107,436 vehicles nation wide due to major safety defects. The main “culprit” in this little story remains Hyundai.

The Koreanautomaker said ina statement that several of its late-model Genesis vehicles were found to have defective seat belts that could explode in a crash.

65,517 Genesis SUVs and sedans are the vehicles targeted by a problem “that could cause a portion of the seat belt pretensioner to explode,” and project metal fragments to passengers, according to NHTSA documents.

Owners affected by this recall will be notified on April 17, 2023.

Affected vehicles include:

9,720 Genesis G80 2021-2023
940 Genesis GV60 2022-2023
21,917 Genesis GV70 2022-2023
32,940 Genesis GV80 2020-2023

On the Mercedes Benz side, the problem in question in the affected cars would be the ABS system.

26,116 SUVs will be recalled due to the anti-lock braking system and the electronic stability program that could be unstable, and increase the risk of an accident.

Owners will be recalled by April 18.

11,018 Mercedes-Benz G550 2019-2021
15,098 Mercedes-Benz AMG G63 2019-2021

At BMW, as many as 15,803 SUVs would end up with defective driver airbags, according to information delivered by NHTSA. The airbags reportedly do not fully meet vehicle specifications.

BMW plans to notify owners affected by this April 7 recall.
