I love a good, well-thought-out decor theme, and I’m not one to judge anyone for having something “weird” on their walls or shelves. I can be a bit eccentric myself, so if I walk into your house and there’s an enormous gold object hanging above the fireplace, I’m probably going to ask where you bought it before I ask why it’s there. That attitude would’ve served me well in the 1920s. Homeowners were borrowing ideas from Hollywood, ancient Egypt, medieval England, skyscrapers, and whatever shiny new material manufacturers had just invented.
