The days of private disagreements are well and truly over. Nowadays, if a person gets into a conflict with someone in public, there's a pretty good chance that conflict will be filmed and posted online.

This is exactly what happened in the case of one traveler, who got into a tiff with a JetBlue employee right before his flight.

What happened at the airport?

TikTok creator Nandowestcoast (@nandowestcoast) posted a verbal altercation with a JetBlue employee. Specifically, he captured a discussion he had with a manager who appears to oversee BlueHouse, the airline's members-only airport lounge. The creator's video has since accumulated more than 1.5 million views.

The creator's footage began with him filming the JetBlue manager, who appeared to level accusations against the creator. The manager said Nandowestcoast was “soliciting other customers that [he was] not traveling with to enter BlueHouse.”

“Here's what this gentleman tried to do,” the manager said, appearing to be looping in another traveler who was not wearing any airline uniform. “He tried to access BlueHouse by asking customers, other customers that you're not traveling with, to enter BlueHouse.”

The creator then asserted that the manager was making “a very strong accusation.” The manager fired back and alleged the creator had actually confessed prior to recording. When the creator pointed out that “anyone with [BlueHouse] access can provide a guest,” the manager replied and said that BlueHouse can deny whomever it chooses.

The creator then went to the JetBlue help desk for assistance, but he had no luck discussing the issue. He said he had already tried to make a complaint via the JetBlue website and help line, but he was instructed to seek in-person aid. The two employees at the in-person help desk maintained that “this isn't the complaint department.”

The situation then appeared to get more tense, with one help desk employee demanding to know the location of the creator's upcoming flight. He repeated that all he wanted to do was file a complaint.

“If you aren't able to give us a ticket, you won't be actually eligible to be in this building,” the help desk employee told the creator. “So I need to know where you're traveling. We can start there. The security's on their way there.”

@nandowestcoast Being treated like a security threat for waiting in an airport terminal is unacceptable. Today at JFK Terminal 5, a JetBlue BlueHouse Lounge manager falsely accused me of being flagged by security, followed me through the terminal, and threatened to have my travel canceled. I was simply waiting for a friend who was arriving and eligible to bring a guest into the lounge. No security officers. No police. No explanation. Just intimidation and public humiliation. I've filed a formal complaint and am sharing my experience so this doesn't happen to someone else. #JetBlue #JFKAirport #Travel #ConsumerRights #AirportExperience @JetBlue ♬ original sound – Nandowestcoast

What happened after the heated exchange?

After more back-and-forth, the creator gave up and filmed himself leaving. By this point in the video, he was visibly shaking. As he was leaving, he noticed the original JetBlue manager following him.

“Why are you still following me?” he asked the manager. “That's harassment. Please stop following me.”

The manager responded that “this is our building.” The creator corrected him and said that the airport belongs to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Soon after, the video ended. The creator wrote in his caption that he's since “filed a formal complaint and [is] sharing [his] experience so this doesn't happen to someone else.”

“Being treated like a security threat for waiting in an airport terminal is unacceptable,” the creator wrote in his caption. “Today at JFK Terminal 5, a JetBlue BlueHouse Lounge manager falsely accused me of being flagged by security, followed me through the terminal, and threatened to have my travel canceled. I was simply waiting for a friend who was arriving and eligible to bring a guest into the lounge … Just intimidation and public humiliation.”

According to JetBlue's BlueHouse website, members' “guests are subject to space availability and guest fee,” and “all guests must enter with primary member/traveler and remain with [the member] at all times.”

What did viewers say?

The creator's viewers expressed outrage in his comment section. One comment condemned the JetBlue employees featured in his video and said they were “beyond unhelpful and rude.” The creator, who is a Colombian man, liked a comment that suggested the treatment he received was a form of airport racial profiling.

“The racism is so sickening,” the comment read.

“The way ur shaking,” one viewer said. Another replied, “He can be out on the no flight list this is very messed up. I would be shaking too.”

“Enforcing policy is fine but it's how it's said,” added another commenter. “This whole conversation could've been done in a proper /professional manner . His delivery was rude, unprofessional and uncalled for.”

But some viewers seemed to think elements of the creator's story weren't quite adding up.

“Based off of the caption I think he was waiting for his friend who was a JetBlue member and was going to let him in the lounge …I'm confused,” one viewer wrote. Another replied, “That's what he says. and then the jet blue guy is saying something different. So one of them is lying.”

Ultimately, most commenters seemed to think that the BlueHouse lounge is simply not worth the trouble, and that it's “crazy [the manager] cares so much.”

“I've never even heard of blue house lol,” one person commented.

“As if the JetBlue lounge is…anything,” another echoed.

“Delta lounge or nothing Jet Blue is like Spirit Airlines,” a third wrote.

Multiple commenters also said they were swearing off JetBlue due to the creator's video, saying they would be seeking out domestic alternatives.

“Commercial pilot here: do not fly JetBlue,” another viewer commented.
