A Walmart shopper had an issue with a bottle of Newman's Own Creamy Caesar Dressing, which she pointed out on TikTok. Now, viewers are questioning what exactly she found.

Cecilia Martinez (@ceceliamartinez77) shared a video with more than 851,000 views. In it, Martinez shook a bottle of Newman's Own Creamy Caesar Dressing, which clearly didn't have any milky ingredients. Instead of seeing the classic beige-white color of Caesar dressing, Martinez was met with a transparent sludge.

“Tell me where the creamy Caesar is,” she stated. “[Expletive] looks like water.”

What did viewers have to say?

The comment section looked like something out of a comedy show.

“They said no artificial dyes, no parabens, BPA free, no sodium, no oils, no taste, no flavor, no,” one commenter joked.

Another announced it was “their retro 90's Crystal Creamy Caesar,” referencing the infamous clear soft drink Crystal Pepsi.

Martinez replied, “To go along with Crystal Pepsi lmfaoooo.”

Someone else offered perhaps the most dramatic explanation of all.

“That's Newman's Own tears,” they said.

Naturally, the internet had questions. Many viewers, for instance, wondered how the bottle passed inspection and ended up on the shelf.

“You mean to tell me NO ONE from production to packaging caught this!?” they wrote.

Another viewer questioned the retailer.

“Why would the store even put it on the shelves? Don't they inspect it before stocking?” they asked with a string of laughing emojis.

Her TikTok went viral, receiving more than 4.4 million views. Walmart acknowledged the issue, apologized, and offered her a refund.

Another bizarre Walmart food mystery recently involved a shopper who claimed she found an iTech smartwatch partially submerged inside a jar of Nutella. The creator insisted the video was not staged. But there was no independent evidence establishing how the watch ended up inside the jar.

What does Walmart say about production failures?

Walmart's own supplier requirements recognize that products can fail to meet specifications. The company also recognizes that packaging can have defects requiring recalls. Walmart maintains a public recall database covering food and consumer products sold through its stores and website.

However, the strange bottle raises an obvious question. How does something that looks so different from the label make its way onto the store shelf? Walmart has a massive supplier network and systems to monitor compliance. According to Supply Chain Dive, Walmart opened 754 cases involving allegations that suppliers failed to comply with responsible-sourcing standards.

The retailer also conducted about 16,700 third-party facility audits. Roughly 13% resulted in facilities being flagged for serious compliance concerns.

For many, the comically dissimilar product highlights just how many layers of production and oversight exist between a product being made and landing on a Walmart shelf. Somewhere along the way, the creamy part of the product got completely lost.
