Nashville couple takes Ford to the dealership for service. Then the mechanic makes a ‘suspicious’ diagnosis: ‘It conveniently does that’
Bringing a vehicle in for repairs at a dealership usually comes with a hefty price tag, but it promises relatively consistent service. According to one Nashville woman's experience, though, a trip to the dealership only brought about additional repairs and a good deal of misery.
Sydney Mikolon (@syd182) said that she and her husband's Ford truck's coolant exploded a day after service at Ford of Murfreesboro.
“ Just a PSA, if you live in the Murfreesboro area or if you're planning on going to the Murfreesboro Ford … I would highly advise against it,” she said. “ I don't normally make these kinds of videos. I'm normally a very nice person …. But the Ford of Murfreesboro has screwed over and scammed my husband and [me] several times.”

Mikolon's experience at Ford of Murfreesboro
Mikolon said that her husband occasionally does work on his Ford vehicle. But in this circumstance, he was not able to fix an issue with the car.
“His solenoids were going out, so he tried fixing them himself, and it was just messed up,” she said. “ His car was shaking and stuff, so we were like, ‘Let's just bite the bullet.'”
Mikolon and her husband took the car to Ford of Murfreesboro. While there, Mikolon said that a technician told her and her husband they were not allowed to use non-Ford parts in their vehicle. For that reason, Mikolon and her husband were told they needed to replace the solenoids.
Mikolon and her husband agreed. Midway through the service, however, Mikolon said the dealership called the couple to tell them about a coolant issue. Mikolon and her husband approved additional service to fix it.
After spending $3,000, they were confident the car was fixed. But around a month later, the vehicle started shaking again.
Mikolon's husband texts the technician
Confused by the sudden onset of problems, Mikolon's husband went ahead and sent a text to the technician who worked on the vehicle.
Mikolon recalled that her husband said, “ Dude, what's going on? I thought we had the solenoids fixed. This should be under warranty. What's going on?”
The technician then explained that apparently, Mikolon and her husband had only paid for two solenoids.
Mikolon's husband asked why, as they couple reportedly asked the technician to fix every solenoid. But the technician told him that the couple didn't specify fixing all four. They added that the vehicle only had codes for two solenoids, so they fixed those two.
Mikolon and her husband decided to go in person to discuss the issue with a manager.
@syd182 Moral of the story…. DO NOT go to Ford of Murfreesboro (THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT SPECIFICALLY) unless you want to get screwed over. Trying to save you time, money, and energy!!!!!! The video doesn't even capture how disrespectful the service manager was. Called us names and everything. Yes I have the receipts. #ford #fordtrucks #fordofmurfreesboro #murfreesborotn @Ford Motor Company @FordofMurfreesboro ♬ original sound – Syd
The conversation went haywire
Mikolon said that when they went in person to discuss the repair miscommunication, the manager at the dealership was “rude” and “condescending.” Despite this, the manager offered them a deal.
”He was just like, ‘I realize we messed up, so I can take like $1,000 off for labor,'” Mikolon recalled. She said that they took it, as they just wanted the truck to work.
They brought the truck in for repairs, waited for the repairs to be done, and got the truck back from the dealership. But around a day afterward, Mikolon said the truck started smoking on the road. Mikolon said that it almost caught fire, and that her husband, who was driving, had to pull over.
Irritated, they called the dealership and escalated the situation to an executive manager. The executive manager helped them schedule a tow back to the dealership. Then, at the dealership, technicians worked to identify what the issue was.
After some time in the shop, Mikolon and her husband got an answer. Mikolon said the technician told them, “ Yeah, so actually your water pump was what busted and messed up the coolant line. So, uh, your truck's just old. There's nothing we can do about it. You're gonna have to pay $750.”
Mikolon and her husband told the dealership that they had just brought the truck in prior to the incident. She then said that they told the dealership they wouldn't pay for the service. Mikolon also told her audience that they left the dealership a very honest review about their experience.
Mikolon's review
Mikolon's review, which is still up on Google, highlighted her experience with the dealership.
“DO NOT GO HERE. Wish I could give 0 stars. Absolutely the most disgraceful, dishonest, and disgusting experience with a company my husband and I have ever had,” she said. “No integrity whatsoever[;] have gotten completely scammed. Not only was the work bad, but the service too. [I] worked with Dan and Jonathan[,] and [they] were extremely rude. … This is a legitimate safety concern due to their negligence. So, if you want to end up in the hospital, sure, use this joke of a place.”
In response, the dealership said, “Sydney, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We're very sorry that you had this experience. Your satisfaction is our top priority[,] and your feedback allows us to make improvements to our processes and train our staff.”
However, Mikolon said that Ford of Murfreesboro effectively banned her and her husband from getting service at the dealership again.
“Get your truck off the lot. Like, you aren't allowed … [to have your truck] serviced here ever again,” Mikolon recalled a representative saying. It's unclear if she and her husband were truly banned from the dealership's premises, but they clearly don't have plans to come back anytime soon.
