Woman books solo trip on Carnival Cruise. Then she catches male employees in her room while she’s showering: ‘Complete violation’

A woman said she booked a solo Carnival cruise, only to find something disturbing the moment she stepped out into her stateroom after a shower.

V Brinson (@lovelyvree) posted a video that received more than 245,000 views. In it, she explained that she found a number of male employees inside her stateroom while she was traveling alone with the company.

‘Nobody Should Be in Your Room, Right?'

The content creator said that she boarded the Carnival Celebration. She told her audience that a day prior to filming her video, she went to the ship's gym. Then, she said, she went back to her room for a shower. Relatively normal, right?

As she was getting out of the shower, she noticed noises coming from her stateroom. She realized that someone she did not know had entered the suite.

“So, I'm calling out, ‘Who's there? Who is in here?' No one's responding, and so I open the bathroom door, and I'm like, ‘Who is here, and why are you in here?'” Brinson said.

She said she saw in the mirror's reflection that there were two men in her room—one in a white shirt and one in a blue one. One of the men addressed the situation.

“The guy's like, ‘Oh, I didn't know anyone was in … here.' … He's like, ‘We're coming to change the balcony tables.'”

Brinson said she went to guest services to file a complaint. The experience, she added, left her frazzled and afraid.

A Conversation With Guest Services

Brinson said that her conversation with guest services didn't go the way she planned.

“They asked me, ‘Well, did you have your sign on the door?' I shouldn't need my sign on the door. I'm here by myself. My room steward had already come and gone,” she said.

She then discussed the fact that the men entered the room without prior notice. She said she had been given advance written notice of balcony cleaning, so the same could have been done for the table replacement.

According to Brinson, guest services responded by saying the men had announced themselves by knocking. Brinson, however, couldn't hear the sound from inside the shower.

“When you walk in, and you hear the shower, why don't you turn around and leave? When I'm yelling through the door, why don't you acknowledge me?” she asked.

Does This Happen Often?

While Brinson's encounter may have seemed singular, some other cruise-goers across varying lines have had similar experiences.

On Cruise Critic, one such person said that a steward opened their door and entered their room to discuss a safety drill onboard.

“We checked our watches and the drill did not start for another 40 minutes. We were pretty upset that he had come into our rooms, especially since we could have slept another 45 minutes,” they said.

In a Reddit post on r/cruise, another person, who was onboard Royal Caribbean's Navigator of the Seas, said that a woman entered his and his partner's room without permission. The woman, he said, quickly told them that she went into the wrong room. They reported the situation to security but ultimately did not learn more information about the subsequent investigation.

Having employees or other guests enter a suite, however, seems relatively uncommon. There aren't a large number of reports of unauthorized room entries across Carnival's ships.

‘I Would Be Getting a Refund'

In the comments section, viewers pointed out that the cruise line's response—rather than just the unauthorized entry—was a glaring issue.

“Their lack of accountability would require me to visit a lawyer,” one viewer said.

Then, a few viewers said that the men not immediately leaving the room once they heard the shower running was another red flag.

Another commenter added, “The fact that they heard a shower running and CHOSE TO STAY! Girl, you need to make more calls. I'd be so traumatized.”

“When they were asked to leave, they should have left immediately. Period, with an apology. When they heard the shower going, they should not have even entered girl, take this to the highest level. Don't let it go cause that would have scared me to death,” a third said.
