20 Parenting Rules From Before 1950 That Aged Surprisingly Well

Everyone has something to say about parenting, and while I believe it’s always going to be on a case-by-case basis, I have concluded that parents are almost professionally incapable of pleasing everyone. Let your child do something independently and you’re too relaxed. Help too much and you’re hovering. Set rules and you’re strict; don’t set enough and somebody will have concerns. Parents were getting conflicting advice generations ago too, except a handful of people were recommending ideas that science would take decades to catch up with. Here are 20 parenting rules from before 1950 that researchers later found surprisingly sensible.
