What Did He See at Sbarro?
He caught a small mouse moseying across a hill of breadsticks at a Sbarro inside Crossgates Mall, near Albany, New York. He posted a clip of the experience on Tuesday.
ABC 7 in New York picked up the story a few days later after it went viral in the region. The problem is how casually the employee handled the pest.
Cadieux shot the clip at the Sbarro counter on the upper food-court level of Crossgates Mall. A mouse appears on the breadstick display and crawls around for a minute before a worker arrives and grabs it nonchalantly. The clip does not show what happens to the tray afterward.
Sbarro operates the location in a food court that also has a Taco Bell, a Wendy's, and two long-running Chinese counters. The chain, headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, runs more than 600 locations across nearly 30 countries. Typically tucked inside shopping malls, Sbarro remains an old standby for quick mall food, dating back decades.

‘He's Just a Baby'
One person noted a possible reality: “So basically Crossgates whole food court is infested.” Another person had a similar thought, writing, “The way he collected that [mouse] like it's a daily practice.”
Several people made the clip a joke from a Pixar film. “Hey it's Ratatouille, just doing his daily inspection. Leave him be.”
Another commenter joked, “Bet they still sold them breadsticks too.” Unfortunately, Cadieux did not stick around long enough to see what the employee did with the breadsticks, or honestly, everything on the counter.
Not the First Mouse in the Sbarro Slice
It's definitely not the first time mice or rats have been found in Sbarro at a mall. In October 2024, the chain's Sawgrass Mills location in Sunrise, FL, was shut down after a Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation inspector found “approximately 30 rodent droppings under a shelving unit across from a prep table in the food preparation room,” along with a Stop Sale on lasagna, meatballs, and shredded mozzarella that had drifted above 41 degrees in the walk-in, per the Miami Herald‘s David J. Neal.
