A Florida woman opened a container from Cheesecake Factory. Then she noticed the slice of cheesecake was noticeably smaller than usual.

Kiara Gonzalez (@_absolutekii) shared a video with 955,100 views, calling out Cheesecake Factory for alleged “shrinkflation.” She claimed the cheesecake slice cost the same price but was considerably smaller.

Did Cheesecake Factory's Cheesecake Slices Get Smaller?

In the viral clip, Gonzalez opened a container from The Cheesecake Factory to reveal her slice of cheesecake sitting alongside a sizable amount of whipped cream.

The slice appeared to take up less than half of the container, prompting the customer to question where the rest of the cheesecake went.

“This is criminal,” she stated, adding in the caption, “Can I speak with a manager?”

In the comments section, she explained that the slice cost $12. She added that it used to be big enough to last her several days.

“I literally thought they used to be huge slices where it took me a couple of days to finish it!!” she wrote.

‘They Literally Used to Be Double the Size'

Her complaint quickly resonated with other customers who said they also remembered the restaurant's cheesecake slices being considerably larger.

Several commenters shared similar memories of The Cheesecake Factory's famously oversized cheesecake portions.

“They literally used to be double the size,” @Ana Correia wrote.

Another commenter joked about the apparent change, writing, “Mind you their prices are insane on these Ozempic sized cheesecake slices.”

“That is in fact the smallest piece ive ever seen from the cheesecake factory ! it use to be huge and last me 3 days!” @yourbestiekera added.

Someone else suggested that the restaurant may be compensating for the smaller-looking cheesecake with more whipped cream.

“And they have been putting more whipped cream as if that's going to distract us,” @jthadonn commented.

The Cheesecake Factory is known for its large dessert portions. The restaurant's extensive cheesecake menu has helped make its slices a recognizable part of the brand.

For customers who remember needing multiple days to finish one slice, the dessert shown in the video appeared to be a very different experience.

Is Shrinkflation New for Cheesecake Factory?

The latest complaint comes amid an ongoing debate over whether The Cheesecake Factory's cheesecake slices have gotten smaller, prompting loyal customers to accuse it of shrinkflation.

Shrinkflation refers to a product becoming smaller while its price stays the same or increases. Shrinkflation may sometimes go unnoticed. But more and more loyal Cheesecake Factory customers are reporting the trend.

The issue made headlines in June 2025, when Fox News reported that customers on Reddit were accusing The Cheesecake Factory of shrinking its cheesecake portions. Some customers claimed slices that once could be shared had become noticeably smaller, while one Redditor alleged that cheesecakes that previously came with eight slices were now being cut into 12.

The Cheesecake Factory was contacted for comment by Fox News at the time, but the report did not establish that the chain had officially changed its standard slice size. Some customers also suggested that inconsistent cutting or equipment issues could explain why individual slices appeared smaller.

More than a year later, customers are still posting photos and videos questioning the size of their slices.

Recently, in a Reddit post from September 2026, one customer claimed the chain raised its cheesecake prices and then reduced the size of its slices by about 33% a few months later.

Shrinkflation Isn't Just a Cheesecake Factory Issue

The debate over smaller cheesecake slices is part of the much broader consumer complaint of shrinkflation.

According to the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), product downsizing isn't new. GAO reports the trend increased in early 2022 as inflation was rising.

Among the downsized products it studied, average per-unit price increases ranged from 12% for paper towels to 32% for coffee.

That makes the Cheesecake Factory complaints particularly relatable to consumers who feel they are getting less for their money.

There is no official confirmation that the chain has reduced its standard cheesecake portions. Yet, customers like Gonzalez repeatedly make comparisons between today's slices and the portions they remember.
