It was an eventful Columbus Day for US President Donald Trump. By now, the media and American voters are well-versed in the president's nonsensical comments, but on October 12, some of his nonsensical comments started to make sense. The only issue? They were bordering on sexual harassment. Now, while Trump has a long history of sexually harassing the women who work for him, the president is trying to branch out by making homoerotic comments about Sen. Jon Husted.

Trump claims that Gov. Roy Cooper is a murderer by proxy?

In a lengthy post on his personal social media platform Truth Social, Trump ripped apart former Governor and current Democratic candidate of North Carolina, Roy Cooper. According to Trump, Cooper released 83 murderers from prison during his time as Governor during the COVID-19 pandemic. What's more, according to the president, 51 of those murderers were serving life sentences, and even more shocking, 25 of them ‘immediately' committed murders. Of course, little to none of that is true. According to factcheck.org, they did confirm that 51 prisoners serving life sentences were released during the pandemic under a prison settlement, but state officials said that all 51 were already eligible for parole. There is no proof that any murders were committed by the released prisoners.

Trump compares Cooper to a murderer

Trump didn't stop at spouting his misinformation about the prisoners released during COVID; he also compared Gev. Cooper to a murderer. Trump told the story of Willie Horton, a man released from prison by Michael Dukakis, a governor running for President at the time. Horton murdered three people after his release, sparking a conversation about prison reform and parole. According to Trump, what Cooper did is much worse and much more consequential. Trump ended his digital speech by endorsing Republican candidate Michael Watley. It should be clarified that what Trump said about Horton is untrue. Horton sexually assaulted a woman and assaulted a man while on furlough from prison, but never killed anyone.

Trump goes on tirade about Sen. Jon Husted

Trump didn't spend his Columbus Day just spreading misinformation online; he also decided to make a half-dozen sexualized comments about Sen. Jon Husted. While at a rally in Youngstown, Ohio, on October 12, Trump bizarrely thirsted over the body of Sen. Jon Husted. Husted, 59, is currently running to be Senator of Ohio. An ex-college football player, Husted joined politics in 2000 and was appointed to the U.S. Senate in January 2025 to fill the seat vacated by JD Vance.

Trump made several comments about Husted's body, and also admitted to ‘inspecting' it during an earlier meeting. The president lauded Husted's football career before going into detail about multiple body parts. According to Trump, he doesn't examine men's bodies very often, but made an exception for the ex-footballer. Trump admitted to inspecting Husted's backside and his hands, and went on to praise how humble Husted is, and that he doesn't mention his fantastic body in everyday conversation.

And I looked, and I watched up and down, and I looked at his a– … and I looked at the whole… and then I looked at his hands, look at his hands, he's got these, like, claws… and I got it, you are a great athlete.

Trump and the male figure

The comments Trump made about Husted are the latest in a trend being noticed by social media users: Trump seems to make an awful lot of comments about the male figure. For a politician who has promoted slashing queer rights, Trump also seems to be what some may call ‘a diva'. Trump routinely comments on the bodies of the men around him, whether they be athletes, US military service members, or other politicians, sparking the question: why? The following is a collection of comments Trump has made about what he would call ‘beautiful men'.

During a recent Coast Guard graduation, Trump invited a decorated graduate up on stage, commenting: “I want to check him out! Woah! Look at the muscles on this guy!” While on a trip to Wisconsin, the president met Olympic speed skating champion Jordan Stolz. Trump then cried out about regretting not touching Stolz while he had the opportunity. Trump recently met with New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart, whom he described as “a beautiful guy with legs like tree trunks.” Of course, there are his legendary comments about how well-endowed ex-golfer Arnold Palmer was.

When he took showers with the other pros, they came out there, they said, ‘Oh my God, that's unbelievable'.

Donald Trump in 2024

It's possible nobody will ever know why Trump can't stop making comments about other men's appearance, but Sabrina Karim, a political science professor at Cornell University, has a couple of ideas. According to Karim, it's possible that Donald Trump is taking the loss of his masculinity personally. Donald Trump has always been very public about the importance of masculinity and manhood (or at least the performance of it), and with Trump now 80, possibly incontinent, and verifiably struggling with dementia, Karim believes he may be making a desperate grab for any sense of masculinity, latching onto other men he views as examples of masculinity.

It's almost like he is trying to reach for this glorified manhood that he cannot embody anymore. He's getting older so he cannot help but having this sense of loss
