A woman says she went from planning her wedding to losing her fiance and her job all in a matter of months. But according to her, the situation got worse. She says the co-worker she had previously voiced concerns about ended up dating her ex.

Meg Blair (@megsblair) recounts the series of events using the “put a finger down” format, which typically involves sharing a specific and outrageous experience. As of this writing, her post has more than 4.9 million views.

“Put a finger down if you were engaged and you're planning your wedding,” she says.

She goes on to say that she'd already asked her best friend to be her maid of honor, with her fiance helping plan the wedding.

Then, he left for a work trip. She says he was also attending a bachelor party and traveling to Dallas.

She explains that she drove him to the airport and the pair exchanged goodbyes. To her, everything appeared normal. But once he was away, she says everything turned upside down.

“He then starts turning his phone off for like six hours at a time,” she says, before adding that he unexpectedly revealed he had a three-day layover in Atlanta which he refused to change. “Okay, so now I'm no contact with my fiance,” she says. “Cool, that's nice.”

Her fiance calls off the engagement

Blair says that her fiance called her from Dallas as promised. But instead of catching up, he used the 51-minute FaceTime call to end their engagement.

“No explanation, mind you,” she says, “no reason.”

She says she was understandably blindsided. The two weren't just planning a wedding: They shared a house, a dog, and a workplace. She adds that he refused to come home to have an in-person conversation and eventually revealed he was extending his trip until June. The couple broke up in March.

Despite the circumstances, Blair says she didn't ask him questions or “blow up his phone.” She says she respected his choice and chose to move on with her life. Unfortunately for her ex-fiance, he'd forgotten to stop sharing his location.

She finds out he's hanging out with their co-worker

She says she eventually discovered that he had been spending time at another woman's apartment. This other woman was one of their mutual co-workers. She says the co-worker would flirt with her then-partner. 

Making matters even weirder is that the co-worker apparently looks so much like Blair that the two women would often get asked, “Oh, my God, are you guys twins? You guys sisters? It's actually freaky how much you guys look alike.”

According to Blair, the woman had also just recently broken up with her boyfriend. “That's like, a really crazy coincidence, isn't it?” she asks.

When she confronted her ex about his new relationship, he denied it, although she later got confirmation that the two were in fact dating.

Blair says she had to attend Monday morning meetings with her ex and his new girlfriend … Until she didn't. Because she got fired. She did not elaborate on why. 

“Oh, just me, or anybody else relate to that one?” she jokes at the end of her viral TikTok.

‘This should be illegal'

Commenters were appalled by Blair's ex. They generally agreed that she dodged a bullet by not marrying a man capable of treating her with such little respect and compassion.

“I wouldn't want answers. I want nothing to do with that person. Byeeee. Me and the dog are off to live a wonderful life,” wrote one viewer.

“It should be illegal to treat people this way!” added another.

A couple of viewers invoked karma, with one writing, “New girl is crazy is she thinks he won't do the exact same to her.”

Another said, “Manifesting him balding by the end of 2026 tbh.”

One woman chimed in with a reminder: “When your life absolutely collapses it's because it's about to be completely rebuilt in the best way.”

If Blair's Cathy and Heathcliff Halloween costumes with her new boyfriend are any indication, things are looking up.
