The Xpeng company should be able to market a flying car for around $200,000 by the end of 2025. Will you be one of the first buyers?
Target: 5000
Xpeng aims to sell 5000 units of its flying car over the next two years.
Recent news
This information was confirmed at the end of June by the co-founder and chief designer of the South China-based company, Wang Tan.
China first...
“The first cars will be available in China next year! Then we’ll move on to the Middle East, then maybe Hong Kong!” he stressed.
A long-term commitment
Xpeng, which was founded ten years ago, has just begun ideating the product at its laboratories in Shenzhen and Shanghai.
Avoiding traffic jams...
The basic idea? To offer something other than the usual means of transport, and thus avoid the problems of traffic congestion. For the moment, only a few visuals have been offered to the public.
Technology under development
“Our technology must continue to improve. We’re carrying out a lot of tests in reserved areas, and we’ll continue to test more.
A good start
“This is an excellent start,” added Wang Tan. Because yes, we’re still at the beginning of this crazy flying car adventure.
An autonomous developer
The whole thing is impressive. Xpeng has developed most of the technologies involved in flying cars on its own, with no other major contributors.
A dedicated subsidiary
Xpeng points out that its subsidiary AeroHT is responsible for the “flying” aspect of its cars. “More than 1,000 people are working on this at AeroHT”, confirms Wang Tan.
A huge success
A recent test of the Voyager X2 in March proved highly successful. The vehicle completed a low-level flight in the Guangzhou district.
A revolution!
In June, the vehicle took to the skies from a Beijing airport, for the very first time in an urban environment. Another success story!
Wait and see...
It now remains to be seen how long it will be available on a wider scale and in North America. For $200,000, the whole thing is very tempting, let’s face it!
