More than a year after the accident that claimed the life of Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust, the prosecutor in charge of the case has issued her decision and charges actor Alec Baldwin with involuntary manslaughter.

The incident had occurred on October 21, 2021 while the actor was rehearsing a scene with a gun during filming on the site of Bonanza Creek Ranch located in New Mexico.

Since the incident, Baldwin claimed not to be responsible for the death of Hutchins. Instead, he accused Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, the person in charge of the weapons and ammunition on the set at the time, of being solely responsible for the tragedy.

Hannah Gutierrez-Reed is also accused of manslaughter in the same case. David Halls, Rust's assistant director, has decided to plead guilty to negligent use of a deadly weapon.

In her statement, prosecutor Mary Carmack-Altwies explains, "After a thorough review of the evidence and the laws of the State of New Mexico..."
