Fraser, who had been absent from major Hollywood productions for several years, first wanted to thank the actors who accompanied him in The Whale and especially the director of the film, Darren Aronofsky.

Then, Brendan Fraser addressed the audience, and those who are suffering, and had everyone in tears, including himself.
