California Woman Picks Up Chipotle. Then She Sees Legs Where They Shouldn’t Be: ‘Might Be The End Of My Love’

A California woman picked up a quick craving—a bowl from Chipotle. But her appetite took a nosedive when she saw something crawling in her bowl.

Morgan Devens (@morgan_devens) posted a video that received more than 10.1 million views. In it, the creator filmed what appears to be a beetle inside a Chipotle bowl.

Devens wrote that seeing the beetle in the bowl “might be the end of [her] love for Chipotle,” adding no further notes on the beetle, which looked like it was swimming in sauce.

Commenters, however, filled in additional commentary. Some viewers said they've been finding a number of creepy crawlers in their bowls, leading them to question the chain's food safety standards.

What Was Inside This Chipotle Bowl?

Devens' post featured a small beetle–no larger than a single fork prong—that somehow made its way inside her Chipotle bowl. The content creator made no reference as to when she discovered the creature, or how long she was eating before she did.

Viewers, however, shared their own horrifying stories concerning Chipotle, as well as food products from other chains.

One viewer said, “I too had an awful experience … this was towards the ending of my bowl when I ate half of it.” They posted a photo of a Chipotle bowl, which appeared to have a dead, black beetle near the side.

Another person added, “Ladybug in mine. Tasted AWFUL.” They included a photo of a dead ladybug, which had apparently been bitten into, in a brown napkin.

Viewers also shared experiences with other chains. “[Yeah], I found [an] earwig in my Chick-fil-A salad, and I can't eat salads from there anymore,” one person said.

Concerns Regarding Food Safety—And Chipotle

With the number of customers who are reportedly finding creepy crawlers inside of salads, bowls, and full-on restaurant meals, it's no wonder that people are taking a step away from fast food. Viewers, too, took aim at Chipotle, citing the number of viral posts from customers finding bugs in their bowls.

In September 2026, another content creator posted footage of a bowl that contained a small, black insect. While some viewers joked that the bug would provide “extra protein and fiber,” others said the finding was off-putting. Then, there are a number of individuals who remember varying incidents from 2025. One content creator, for instance, found a green worm inside their bowl. Another found a different, unidentified green insect.

One commenter, who described the phenomenon succinctly, said, “Not every Chipotle restaurant, but somehow always a Chipotle restaurant.”

Outside of many people's aversions to bugs, customers also took to avoiding the chain during the Cyclospora outbreak. Slate deemed the July 2026 debacle's high point as “the worst week in slop bowl history,” adding that “Shares of publicly traded fast-casual staples like Sweetgreen, Cava, and Chipotle took steady hits” in the midst of it.

Continued fear of contamination seems to be a throughline in 2026, with TIME reporting that the United States has seen a notable increase in press discussing foodborne illness.

“These incidents have left shoppers across the United States wondering whether this summer has been a particularly bad one for foodborne illnesses,” TIME says.

Viewers in Devens' comments section specifically warned against getting bowls with lettuce, with recent fears regarding health and food safety seemingly trampling a desire for greens.
