The first presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden took place in CNN’s Atlanta studios on June 27, 2024. It was a disaster.
Something's not right
It didn’t take long for viewers to realize that something was wrong with the president.
The routine
Clearly, Donald Trump was about to indulge in some of his usual rhetoric.
Memory loss
And that’s just what happened. Before long, Joe Biden’s memory loss had all of America… and part of the world… holding its breath.
Lies
Donald Trump took advantage of the opportunity, though not as aggressively as one might have expected. He did, however, stick to his main points, most of which were lies, particularly about January 6, 2021.
The damage is done
If Joe Biden seemed to pick himself up in the second half, at least at times, the damage was done.
Deranged and vindictive
In the second half, Trump seemed more deranged and vindictive than ever.
Trump never bothered
However, he was never bothered by a frail and confused Joe Biden.
Unable
Indeed, every time Trump made an erroneous remark on a key issue for the Democrats, Biden didn’t seem able to capitalize.
The party rejoices
Much to the delight of Trump, his many supporters and the Republican Party.
Trump wins
The commentators all gave Trump the win in the debate, even if it was by default.
The panic
Immediately after the debate, and even during it, panic set in in the Democratic camp.
Behind the scenes
Several party members were already making a behind-the-scenes push for the current president to leave the race for a second term.
Undaunted
Biden didn’t let it get him down, showing up as scheduled at the post-debate Democratic event.
Very tough
According to many, however, it will be very difficult for Joe Biden to come back from behind.
The worst in American history?
Were you listening to the debate? A debate that many are calling the worst in American history.
