Deadly attacks: Putin targets EU and UK buildings

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy said on X that he had summoned the Russian ambassador following a recent series of strikes on Kiev.

The strikes killed several civilians, destroyed many homes and damaged buildings including the British Council and the European Union delegation building.

Lammy said that “Putin’s strikes last night killed civilians, destroyed homes and damaged several buildings, including the British Council and the European Union delegation building in Kiev”.

He added: “We have summoned the Russian ambassador. This killing and destruction must stop”.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said after the Russian forward that the EU delegation building in Kiev had been “badly damaged”.

On the night of August 27-28, Russia carried out a massive air offensive against Kiev, deploying nearly 600 drones and more than 30 missiles.

These strikes targeted many of Kiev’s civilian districts, as well as diplomatic sites, killing at least 18 people, including four children, and injuring around 50 others.
