Ex-CNN host and independent journalist Don Lemon has come under fire from the Trump administration and the MAGA movement after livestreaming a protest that disrupted a church service in St. Paul, Minnesota. Protesters alleged a church pastor was also a senior ICE official. DOJ civil rights chief Harmeet Dhillon warned Lemon that claiming to be an «independent journalist» does not «shield» him from potential «criminal conspiracy» charges. Lemon told NBC News he «wasn’t the only reporter there» and criticized being singled out, citing a «barrage of violent threats, along with homophobic and racist slurs». He accused MAGA supporters and right-wing media of amplifying the backlash and said DOJ should focus on «investigating the tragic death of Renee Nicole Good» instead.
