Donald Trump strips Kamala Harris of the Secret Service

Donald Trump and his administration have announced that they have withdrawn Secret Service protection from former Vice President Kamala Harris.

The decision comes as Harris prepares to embark on a major promotional tour for her memoir 107 Days, about his brief 2024 presidential campaign, due for release on September 23.

According to the Washington Post, a senior White House official said that the President had sent a letter to Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem on August 28, formally requesting the end of Secret Service protection for Kamala Harris, effective September 1st.

Normally, outgoing vice-presidents enjoy Secret Service protection for six months after the end of their term of office.

In view of the country’s unprecedented political tensions, Joe Biden had extended Kamala Harris’ detail for another year, which would have kept her protected until July 2026.

Trump’s decision will have a huge impact on the life of Kamala Harris, who is about to embark on her book tour.

The end of her 24/7 federal protection could force Kamala Harris to hire private security for her tour, which begins on September 24 in New York and ends on November 20 in Miami, Florida.

In the meantime, it will pass through California, Texas, Illinois, Alabama, Tennessee and even Canada!
