Drake blames Justin Bieber for Leafs’ elimination

Death, taxes and a playoff defeat for the Toronto Maple Leafs are three of life’s inevitabilities.

Once again, for the umpteenth time, the team from the Queen City stumbled, as it has done for the past decade or so, losing in seven games to the Florida Panthers in the second round. Looking at the overall picture, the Leafs seem to have given the defending champions a good fight. That said, we must remember that Toronto suffered two 6-1 defeats in two of their last three series games, which is frankly unacceptable.

While there was plenty of hope within the organization and among fans, this was another season in which the Leafs were unable to close out their series in the final game.

In fact, they haven’t won a Game 7 since 2004, when they beat the Ottawa Senators in the first round of the playoffs. We’re talking over 20 years here…

Let’s not forget that the Leafs haven’t lifted Lord Stanley Cup since 1967 too!

And as we saw, singer Justin Bieber was present at the ultimate Maple Leafs duel, sitting right behind his favorite team’s bench.

On the other hand, rapper Drake bet over a million dollars (US) on a Leafs victory in Game 7 against the Floridians and we all know the final result…

And via Instagram, Drake pointed the finger at Justin Bieber, mentioning that the Leafs suffer from a curse surrounding the pop singer. Drake called the whole thing “Bieber Curse“, to be more precise.

We know that Justin Bieber is close to some of the Leafs’ players, so Drake sees it as some kind of bad luck for his favorite team.

A superstitious man, in all likelihood!
