Lewis Hamilton victim of racism
Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton reacted today to racist remarks made about him by former driver Nelson Piquet.

This whole story goes back to November 2021. The former Brazilian F1 driver Nelson Piquet gave a video interview to Motorsports.com. Piquet commented on Max Verstappen ‘s performance at the expense of Hamilton at the British Grand Prix.

“The little black guy put his car in and left it because there was no way for him to overtake two cars in that corner,” said the former F1 world champion in 1981, 1983 and 1987.

Today, Lewis Hamilton has come back on these inappropriate remarks.

“It’s more than language. These archaic mindsets need to change and have no place in our sport. I’ve been surrounded by these attitudes and targeted my whole life. There has been plenty of time to learn. Time has come for action,” the seven-time world champion commented today on Twitter.

Nelson Piquet ‘s comments were condemned by the International Automobile Federation (FIA) and Formula 1, the organizer of the F1 World Championship.

Lewis Hamilton has been the instigator of an anti-racism movement in F1 for several seasons. Several other drivers have supported the Englishman in his quest for equality and inclusion.

Last year, Queen Elizabeth II knighted the racer with the title of Knight of the British Order for his role in fighting racism.
