A man is accusing Jolly Ranchers of deceitful advertising. The reason why? According to him, a package of Awesome Reds he purchased only contained three flavors—he was promised four.

Carlo (@consumedbycarlo), a Toronto-based content creator, posted a video about Jolly Ranchers' Awesome Reds package that received more than 606,000 views. In it, he called out the company for not including all of the “best red flavors.”

“You're getting a special mixture of the best of the best red flavors. It's cherry, strawberry, watermelon, and fruit punch, OK? Four flavors, OK? Why is there only three?” he says in his video.

Which flavor was missing?

Carlo alleges that the package contained zero strawberry Jolly Ranchers, which he says are his favorite flavor.

“I got fruit punch, mind you, a rational size, an overload of cherry, an overload of watermelon, also included in the OGs. The new flavor, the fruit punch, I get, what, six? And zero strawberry [Jolly Ranchers],” he says.

The content creator asks Jolly Ranchers to send him a new bag with just strawberry [Jolly Ranchers].

“Just in case you think I'm the liar, it says cherry, strawberry, watermelon, and fruit punch. Do y'all see strawberry here? Fruit punch, cherry, watermelon. I'm p—-d,” he says.

Why were there no strawberry Jolly Ranchers?

When a product that's supposed to contain a mix is missing a flavor, it often is because of a plant omission or manufacturing issue.

Sometimes, candy companies will temporarily omit providing a certain candy to ensure quality standards. Nestle, for instance, temporarily sold QUALITY STREET Tins without one flavor.

The company explained at the time that, “Sometimes, it is necessary to replace a sweet with another of equally high quality, which is why some tins may consist of more of one flavour than others.”

In other situations, a machine defect or human error may accidentally result in a batch of products not containing every assorted flavor. In those circumstances, many companies allow customers to call into their customer support line to report the packaging issue.

Did Jolly Ranchers get him his strawberry candies?

In the comments section, Jolly Ranchers promised to rectify the lack of strawberry candy.

“We owe you some Strawberries. Like… a lot of Strawberries. Stay tuned!” the company stated.

Later, Carlo said that Jolly Ranchers' PR team reached out to him directly. The company reportedly asked him to look at the date code on the back of the bag so the plant team can investigate and help make sure it's addressed for future bags.

The PR team also offered to send him a bag of candy to “make things right.”

Carlo says he doesn't know what he'll receive in the mail. “ I don't know what's gonna happen, but I will take a delivery, absolutely,” he says.

The content creator says the company's response impressed him.

“ You guys are amazing. I love you, Jolly Rancher,” he says. “I'm so curious to see what they're gonna send over. You guys better stay tuned, because I'm gonna post about it once I receive the package.”
