Kaelyn (@kaesoobae), a door-to-door representative for Fox Pest Control in Massachusetts, took to TikTok to air minor grievances about the small indignities of knocking on strangers' doors. Her list ran through the excuses and dodges homeowners lean on when an uninvited sales representative shows up.
The story
Kaelyn opened with her strongest gripe. “Won't open the door, but will lock their car,” she said. “Like, cool. Am I that intimidating?” From there, she moved to homeowners who wait to shut the door “until they see you get fully off their property,” and those who greet her with a curt “How can I help you? What are you selling?”
@kaesoobae This is probably niche sorry
Fourth on her list, she said, is the homeowner who shuts her down fast, then perks up once she's already leaving. “Now they're suddenly intrigued about my segue and wanna talk to me. I'm like, no. You don't get your privileges anymore.”
She singled out the screen-door shuffle: the homeowner cracks the storm door, then explains they can't open the main door because the dog will get out.
“What do we do? Put your dog back a little bit and open the door,” she said. “Everyone else can do it.”
Her sixth peeve is the compliment-and-decline—the homeowner who tells her she's great at the job but still won't bite. Her internal response was blunt: “Good luck. My… I hate you.”
She hinted a part two may be coming. “This video could probably be ten minutes long,” she said.
The peanut gallery
Kaelyn seems like a good, decent person and a hard worker, but her commenters have strong points. “It's because there's nothing shadier than a door-to-door salesperson,” said one person.
“I have this on my door, and you still knock or ring my doorbell,” said one person, noting they've posted a visible “no soliciting” sign.
One man made light of his distaste for door-to-door salespeople, writing, “Here's a list of things door-to-door sales people do that annoy me. #1 knock on my door. #2 when I say ‘no thanks' they continue talking, like I didn't just tell you I'm not interested. #3 telling me you doing work for (insert made up name here) down the street and you can give me a deal because you'll already be in the area. I could go on for 10 minutes but I'll end it here.”
Both sides of the doorbell
In May 2025, the Grafton, Massachusetts, Police Department warned residents about an unregistered solicitor claiming to represent, interestingly enough, a pest control company. He was asking to be let inside to use their bathrooms. The department's advisory was blunt: “DO NOT let them inside,” officers wrote.
Separately, Daily Voice reported on a Long Island TikTok showing a clearly desperate EcoShield salesman falsely telling a woman her dog “got out.” He did admit to lying to get her outside, telling her he was “just kidding” as she demanded he leave.
