Netanyahu orders his army to prepare roads for the “voluntary” departure of Palestinians from Gaza

The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, visibly pleased by Trump’s announcement regarding a possible takeover of Gaza, has instructed his army to prepare exit plans for residents of Gaza wishing to leave voluntarily.

This decision by Netanyahu comes as the White House tries to soften Donald Trump’s comments during a joint press conference with the Israeli Prime Minister a few days earlier. 

Trump suggested that the United States could “take control” of Gaza, which he described as a “ruined site.”

During this same press conference, Trump expressed his ambition to transform Gaza into a “Middle Eastern Riviera,” provoking a wave of outrage on a global scale.

Netanyahu’s reaction to Trump’s remarks was swift, as he immediately ordered his army to prepare a plan for the voluntary evacuation of residents from Gaza. 

Let us remember that they are back on their territory after the signing of a ceasefire that ended several months of intensive bombings carried out by Israel.

It is important to recall that, in this recent escalation of the long historical conflict between Palestinians and Israelis, nearly 50,000 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since the launch of the Israeli military offensive. 

Moreover, more than 1.7 million Palestinians have been forced to flee, while those who remain, like the displaced, find themselves plunged into disastrous humanitarian conditions.

This operation was launched in response to the terrorist attacks carried out by Hamas on October 7, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of 1,200 people and the hostage-taking of about 250 others.

Israel wishes for the plan to provide several “exit options” for Palestinians wishing to leave Gaza, mainly via land crossings, but also with the possibility of “special arrangements” for departures by sea and air.

It remains to be seen how and when Trump will implement his «plan», as well as the reaction of the international community if actions are taken regarding this takeover of Gaza.
