Neve Campbell, famous for her iconic role as Sidney Prescott in Scream, returns to the horror franchise after leaving the saga due to salary disagreements. Fans who have followed her character since the original 1996 film are delighted at her return, coming after several changes to the franchise in recent months!

Campbell shared the news on Instagram, expressing her excitement at reprising the role of Sidney Prescott, signaling the end of the disagreements that had kept her away from the franchise. Campbell, who testifies to a deep admiration and passion for the character and story of Scream, said she was very happy and proud that the showrunners had respectfully invited her to bring Sidney back to the screen, which really thrilled her.

In the seventh film in the Scream series, there will be a major change in the creative team. Kevin Williamson will take the director’s chair for the very first time. He wrote the screenplay for all three films in the original series and is, for all intents and purposes, the designer of the entire Scream universe and its cult characters.

The collaboration between Williamson and Campbell suggests a possible return to the roots of the franchise, which has been rocked by the departures of two new stars who had brought new life to it: Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega.

It’s worth noting that Melissa Barrera’s departure from the franchise caused controversy, and Jenna Ortega decided to leave shortly after Barrera due to scheduling conflicts linked to her commitment to Wednesday at Netflix. A decision that fit well in terms of timing… while the Barrera controversy was in full swing, let’s face it.
