NHL: Who will win the Norris Trophy?

A new generation of defensemen has emerged in the National Hockey League in recent seasons. They are strong, big and fast!

In 2021-22, one defenseman will be crowned the best in his profession, and will receive the Norris Trophy. The three finalists are now known.

First, Roman Josi of the Nashville Predators is the favorite. He has had, by far, the best season of his career.

The skilled player had 96 points this season, including a taste of the playoffs.

Josi has been impressing the gallery all season with his inspired play. He had several games of more than one point.

There's no doubt Roman Josi is the favorite to win.

He took home the honor in 2020 after another season beyond expectations.

Another returning finalist is Victor Hedman of the Tampa Bay Lightning. He also won the Norris Trophy in 2018.

Hedman plays for a championship team, but he doesn't look good because of the team: he's actually one of the main factors in his team's success.

This season, Hedman has 85 points and a +26 rating. In addition, he has played in every game for the Lightning.

A reliable defenseman for many years, Hedman is a 31-year-old veteran, as is Roman Josi. Both are in the prime of their careers.

The same cannot be said for the other finalist, Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche. He's only 23 years old!

The Avalanche's crown jewel has continued to impress since his arrival in the NHL. His production has steadily increased, especially this season.

In 2021-22, Makar had 86 points, including 28 goals, in 77 games. He was one of the reasons for the Avalanche's dream season.

Makar embodies stability, as do his two opponents. This season, his +48 record clearly demonstrates his dominance.

So which of these three defensemen will succeed Adam Fox of the New York Rangers, who won last year?

Mark Giordano of the Flames in 2019...

...Brent Burns of the Sharks in 2017...

...Drew Doughty of the Kings in 2016...

...and Erik Karlsson of the Senators in 2016 are the other most recent recipients of the title.
