Oklahoma woman posts her hyperactive puppy. Then she has an expert euthanize it: ‘Vet office needs to be held accountable as well!’

Pet content is some of the most reliably viral material on TikTok. Viewers tend to form strong attachments to both animal and owner alike, and the social media machine forgives no one.

One Oklahoma pet owner is now at the center of a viral reckoning—and anonymous accounts, dedicated to documenting her every move, are the driving force of it all.

‘Vet office needs to be held accountable as well!'

An anonymous account (@more.aaryn.files) shared screen-recorded footage, which is apparently from the banned account of content creator Aaryn Michelle Joseph. The clip shows Joseph, who now posts on TikTok as Shhh.aaryn (@shhh.aaryn), scolding her several-month-old puppy, Birdie. The anonymous video has since accumulated more than 824,000 views.

The anonymous account, which says in its bio that it's “[holding] Aaryn mj accountable,” makes serious allegations against Joseph. Throughout most of its videos, it claims Joseph had the dog euthanized at 9 months old, despite the puppy showing no aggression.

The account links to a Change.org petition in its bio, which claims Joseph only did this because she “was not equipped to care for her.” The petition has, as of publication, 236 verified supporters. It also expands on animal-related accusations against Joseph.

The only person attached to the petition is a person named Kaitlin S., who also appears to be behind a separate anonymous account (@aaryn.files). This account is also dedicated to documenting grievances against Joseph.

The petition alleges Joseph brought Birdie to the Cimarron Animal Clinic in Stillwater, Oklahoma, for euthanasia.

The deal with the clinic—and more allegations

The petition makes a number of claims regarding Joseph and the clinic.

“The clinic itself admits it was ‘[owner's] discretion' and there were no signs of aggression that they witnessed,” the petition says. “Aaryn chose this specific vet clinic because of the horrible reviews and for the fact that they will ‘put down any dog without asking questions.'”

The clinic has a 4.6-star rating out of 5 stars based on 73 largely positive reviews on Facebook. On Yelp, however, it has only 3 stars. The score is based on eight reviews. In one such review from 2021, a woman accused a veterinarian at the clinic of “abusing” a cat. However, none of the reviews reference groundless euthanasia.

The petition goes on to allege that Joseph systematically neglected and physically mistreated Birdie over the span of her short life. It also claims Joseph told followers she rehomed Birdie to a woman in North Carolina named Kim.

“When she had Birdie euthanized she lied to the internet and everyone she knew and said that she had rehomed Birdie to a woman named Kim in NC and created an [AI-generated] photo of Birdie sitting on this woman's lap,” the petition alleges. “The woman, Kim, admitted to helping pay for [Birdie's] euthanasia and a slew of other things.”

There is no linked source for Kim or her supposed confession. As of publication, the account's accusations are uncorroborated.

The petition closes with a call for Oklahoma legislators to toughen the state's animal cruelty and euthanasia laws.

Has Joseph responded to the allegations?

Buzz News could not find any direct statement or response from Joseph addressing the euthanasia allegations. However, Joseph may have addressed different controversies in the past. According to one creator, she allegedly faced “major backlash” after her son voiced concerning thoughts during a livestream about harming himself. In a screenshot of a supposed comment response, Joseph allegedly called the backlash the product of “parasocial arrogance.”

As of publication, there is no mainstream media coverage of Joseph other than one Daily Star piece. The Star reported earlier this year that Joseph “was battling a devastating addiction which separated her from her sons.”

Joseph is open about her battle with addiction on her own account. She describes herself in her bio as a survivor of assault who is three years sober.
