RFK Jr. Says He Cut Off Raccoon Genitals During Family Car Ride

Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s long-documented fascination with dead animals is once again making headlines, this time through revelations published in a new biography that details another disturbing episode.

The book revisits a series of private diary entries and alleged personal accounts that paint a consistent pattern of behavior, placing the current U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary at the center of yet another unsettling story. According to the author, the incident unfolded during what should have been a routine family car ride, with his children present in the vehicle. The episode has reignited scrutiny around Kennedy’s past, particularly the recurring nature of these accounts involving animal remains.

According to the book RFK Jr.: The Fall and Rise, written by journalist Isabel Vincent and based on Kennedy’s alleged diaries, the incident occurred in 2001 along Interstate 684. In his own words, Kennedy described the moment in striking detail:

«I was standing in front of my parked car on I-684 cutting the penis out of a road killed raccoon, thinking about how weird some of my family members have turned out to be». The passage, presented as a personal reflection, underscores both the setting and his state of mind. The account continues with another line that has drawn widespread attention: 

«My kids waited patiently in the car», suggesting that his children remained nearby throughout the episode.

The biography further explains that Kennedy kept the animal’s genitalia with the intention of examining it later, a detail confirmed by the author in subsequent interviews. Vincent described a broader pattern behind the behavior, stating that Kennedy had long maintained an intense interest in animals and anatomy. She explained that he had once aspired to become a veterinarian and had worked at the National Zoo during his youth, adding:

«You have to understand, Bobby wanted to be a veterinarian as a kid. His after-school job was at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C.». She added that this interest extended into adulthood, describing what she characterized as a habit of collecting and preserving animal remains for study.

This is not the first time Kennedy has publicly acknowledged unusual interactions with dead animals. In 2024, he admitted to an incident involving a bear cub found on the side of a road in New York State. In a video shared online, he described picking up the carcass with the intention of using it for food before abandoning it in Central Park when his plans changed.

«I pulled over and I picked up the bear and put him in the back of my van because I was going to skin the bear», he said, before adding, «It was very good condition and I was going to put the meat in my refrigerator». The episode drew widespread criticism at the time and resurfaced as part of a growing list of similar accounts.

Other stories have emerged through family members, further contributing to the narrative surrounding Kennedy’s behavior. In a past interview, his daughter Kick Kennedy recalled a childhood road trip during which her father encountered a dead whale on a beach. According to her account, he used a chainsaw to remove the animal’s head and transported it on top of the family vehicle for hours. The trip, she suggested, became nearly unbearable due to the smell and leaking fluids from the carcass, an episode that has since been widely cited as one of the most extreme examples of these incidents.

Taken together, these accounts—spanning decades and involving multiple witnesses—have shaped a controversial portrait of Kennedy that extends beyond his political career. From the raccoon described in his own diary to the bear cub he admitted moving and the whale recounted by his daughter, each episode reinforces a pattern that continues to attract public attention. The latest revelations have once again placed his personal history under scrutiny, raising questions not only about the individual incidents themselves but also about the consistency of behavior they collectively suggest.
