The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes takes place years before the successful series that earned more than 3 billion dollars at the box-office from 2012 to 2015.

In the new film,Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth), the tyrannical president of Panem, is only 18 yearsold. He is the last hope of his fading lineage, a once proud family that has fallen from grace in post-war Capitol Hill. With the 10th annual Hunger Games fast approaching, young Snow is alarmed when he is assigned the role of mentor to Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), the tributary girl of poor District 12.

The new film is based onSuzanne Collins2020 bestseller The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.

The new production relies on RachelZegler, who made her film debut playing Maria Vasquez in the musical drama West Side Story in 2021. The English actor TomBlyth began his career as a child actor and graduated in 2020 from the Juilliard School in New York.

The original franchise Hunger Games starred Jennifer Lawrence as the protagonist Katniss Everdeen.

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will be released on November 17, 2023.
