New York Mets star pitcher Edwin Diaz tore his patellar tendon while celebrating his team’s big win (Puerto Rico) against the Czech Republic in the World Baseball Cup. A crushing 5-2 victory.

Following Diaz’s last out to close the game, his teammates immediately joined him on the mound to celebrate, and that’s when Diaz collapsed in pain.
The Mets’ organization said the 28-year-old underwent successful surgery today and will be out for about eight months.
