Texas server clocks in for a 5-hour Little Woodrow’s shift. Then she reveals how much she makes on a ‘slow’ night

An Austin woman revealed just how much she makes during one “slow” shift at Little Woodrow's, a backyard bar. The result, as it turns out, isn't necessarily a small sum.

In a video that received more than 3,000 views, Savannah (@savysavzz) walked her audience through a shift. She filmed the beginning and the end, documenting how she was feeling. She revealed what a particularly uneventful day at Little Woodrow's looks like, which led to another question: How much does the average server make on a good day versus a bad one?

First, what is Little Woodrow's?

Little Woodrow's is a chain of Texas sports bars that offer low-key spaces with a hometown, in-your-neighborhood vibe. Typically, Little Woodrow's locations have outdoor seating, with games such as giant Jenga available to entertain guests.

The vibe at different Little Woodrow's locations across Texas is laid-back. Visit Houston describes one location as “relaxed,” sporting 100 different beers, pool tables, TVs, and nightly $5 pitchers.

The tip

Savannah started her video before her shift, telling her audience she was prepped with a Sugar-free Witch's Brew Alani and ready for the day.

“ I am a sugar-free girly, but, you know, sugar-free Red Bull. I don't usually like Alanis,” she said. Regardless, she headed into work for the day.

The video cut to a video from inside the bar. Then it cut to the content creator again. She told her audience that she had “just arrived home.”

“ My shift was only five hours. It was pretty slow, um, of a 15-table section, and I didn't have half of those tables,” she said. “So for a really slow day, I made $185, $18 in tip share, and I spent $6 on food. So [I left] with $160. But you know what? It's okay. It's about to be football season.”

For context, casual dining servers usually make between $150 and $250 in tips per shift, according to Tip Bucket. Server44 puts that average even lower at $40 to $150 per shift. If $185 is a “slow night,” it's reasonable to conclude that she's getting average to above-average tips. Football season, as she said, could get an even higher net.

Unfortunately, there isn't much public information about what Little Woodrow's servers usually get in tips per shift, at least online. But it looks like the pay could be somewhat substantial in the fall.
