Ukrainian Eurovision winners sell trophy to buy drones
Kalush Orchestra, the Ukrainian band that won the Eurovision 2022 music contest, sold its crystal trophy to buy drones for the Ukrainian army that is fighting the Russian invasion in its country.

On May 14,Kalush Orchestra, a Ukrainian folk-rap band won the prestigious music competition with their songStefania.

A few hours later, the six members of the group were back in Ukraine to take up arms and fight the Russian enemy.

NowKalush Orchestrahaschosen to sell its winning trophy, a crystal microphone. The band got $900,000 for its trophy from an Estonia-based cryptocurrency exchange, WhiteBit.

“We appreciate each and every one of you who donated to this auction, and a special thanks to the Whitebit team who purchased the trophy for $900,000 and are now the rightful owners of our trophy,” the group said on its Facebook page.

The funds raised byKalush Orchestra will be used to purchase the PD-2 unmanned aerial system, which includes three aircraft and a ground control station, Ukrainian TV host Serhiy Prytula said at the auction.
