I do enjoy irony. In fact, it struck me as ironic that when Henry VIII tried so hard to control his image all over England during his lifetime, once he passed away, it became pretty tough to hide that same image. I am speaking literally in this case. By the end of his life, he had become so fat he was severely obese and practically immobile. When he eventually passed away after many years of ill health, his funeral went on for a very long time. His enormous corpse, which was preserved and embalmed, needed to last almost three weeks until it could be interred. It even had to be transported from London to Windsor. Here is what we do know.
