Woman goes to Epcot at Disney World. Then she absolutely loses it on this Florida ride: ‘I was looking for an emergency button’

A woman went to Epcot, only to say that a ride nearly killed her. Now she's posting her harrowing experience in the hopes of warding others off from it.

Abby (@abbysworldofadventures), a content creator who mainly posts travel-based content, said that she took a chance on Mission: SPACE, a relatively well-known space simulator in Epcot. The experience, she said, made her so sick that she threw up.

Abby's terrible Mission: SPACE experience

Abby told her audience that she went on a “space simulator” ride that shook her up. Later, she identified that the attraction was Mission: SPACE. But some commenters were able to identify exactly what ride she described based on her testimony.

The content creator started her video by describing the ride's setup. “ You get into the ride, and they close you in. You're- it's extremely tight. You have something that, like, goes over you, and it's, it's literally no room to move whatsoever,” she said. “ The screen is like an inch from you. It's pitch black in there aside from that screen that's kinda showing you what you're doing. Scary.”

Abby didn't go into much depth regarding what happened during the ride. But she said that after a short time in it, she wanted out. She started pressing every button inside the ride in the hopes that there was some form of emergency exit. There wasn't one.

Then she said something horrifying happened.

“ It was horrific, guys. For the first time in my life, I threw up on a ride,” she said. “I thought I was done for. And I know this sounds traumatic, and if y'all go to Epcot, you need to ride it and see for yourselves.”

Mission: SPACE's notorious reputation

Abby didn't go into much detail regarding what exactly made her feel sick. But online, Mission: SPACE has a notorious reputation. According to multiple sources, it's incredibly disorienting. Mission: SPACE can make individuals who normally do not feel sick feel queasy. In addition, some have said that it has long-term effects and can impact how a person feels for the rest of the day.

A Redditor, who posted their thoughts on r/WaltDisneyWorld, added, “I don't feel right until sleep. Some people can handle it, not me.”

Another commenter said, “I am not prone to motion sickness, but this ride did me in (nausea, lightheadedness, etc).”

Outside of those complaints, two separate people reportedly died after going on the ride. In 2005, a four-year-old boy died after riding Mission: SPACE, according to Theme Park Insider.

Less than a year later, a 49-year-old woman passed away after riding Mission: SPACE, as per CBS News. The woman reportedly “felt dizzy and nauseated after getting off the ride, and may have suffered from high blood pressure and other health problems.”

What if a person wants to ride Mission: SPACE?

Despite many people's warnings about the ride, Mission: SPACE still has an audience. Veteran Mission: SPACE enjoyers advise those who want to take a trip on the ride to keep their eyes locked in one position: don't look sideways or at anything other than what's directly ahead.

For others, such as Abby's commenters, Mission: SPACE was worth visiting only one time. Many viewers swore they'd never try the simulator again.

“I believe Mission: SPACE was made to see how many people will puke on it. I didn't puke, but I walked out and sat for almost 30 minutes trying to keep it down,” a commenter said. “That ride is just stupid!”
