2-time WNBA champ Kara Braxton dead at 43

Kara Braxton, former professional basketball player and two-time WNBA champion, has died in a car crash, CNN confirms.

A dominant center out of the University of Georgia, she was selected seventh overall in the 2005 WNBA Draft by the Detroit Shock. Braxton quickly made her mark, helping the Shock capture WNBA titles in 2006 and 2008 with her strong interior presence and scoring ability.

Over her career, she also played for teams including in Phoenix and New York. Known for her physical style of play and championship pedigree, Kara Braxton was a notable figure in women’s basketball.

She was 43 years old.
