5 years sentence for Hedley’s singer
Jacob Hoggard, lead singer of the band Hedley, received a five-year sentence after being convicted of sexually assaulting an Ottawa-area woman.

This sexual act in question occurred in 2016, in a Toronto hotel room.

The Crown was seeking six to seven years in prison, while Hoggard’s lawyers were pushing for three to four years.

The final decision is therefore halfway between the two requests.

The Crown argued that Hoggard was a risk to the community. On the other hand, a psychiatric report showing that Hoggard’s chances of reoffending were low was offered by the defence.

Hoggard’s victim said she would live with nightmares for the rest of her life.
