‘It’s not fair to the fans’: Man tries to buy tickets to Dallas FIFA World Cup game. Then he catches the organizers in a lie
The FIFA World Cup is nearly here. Whether a person is an avid sports fan or incredibly uninterested, it's hard to deny that this global soccer competition is a capital-E event.
And apparently, this year's Cup is an even bigger event than usual. According to the Olympics website, the 2026 World Cup is breaking records by featuring 48 teams with “over 1,000 footballers … representing their nations at the global football tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico.”
It's no surprise that soccer fans are already excited in anticipation of the games. However, one fan is going viral for noticing a potential problem for FIFA attendees.
‘This is not okay, this is problematic'
TikTok creator Professor Noir (@professornoir007) posted a video accusing World Cup venues in the U.S. of doing a “massive bait-and-switch” on fans. The video has more than 851,000 views.
“A lot of the host cities are not actually hosting the games,” the creator said in his video. “And what I mean by that is New York City is listed as a host city, but the games are being held in New Jersey. But there's no major city in New Jersey to draw a crowd. So they put New York City, but it's seven miles away.”
The FIFA website lumps New York and New Jersey together as one host area. The creator aired his grievances with FIFA listing Kansas City, Los Angeles, Dallas, Boston and San Francisco as host cities even though some of their respective World Cup stadiums are “miles away.” He also expressed concerns that the situation will cause confusion and logistical problems for people booking accommodations and travel.
“I think it's not fair to the fans… If you tell me to go to Dallas, which is a major city, [I] would assume the stadium is in Dallas,” the creator said. “And to say to me, as a foreigner, you should look it up? I wouldn't have looked it up as a local. I would have been like, ‘Oh, Dallas. Okay, let me go get a hotel in Dallas. That's that.' But then it's 20 miles away … This is problematic. And like I said before, this World Cup is going to be something. I don't know if it's gonna be good, but it's going to be.”
Where to see the games
According to the FIFA website, the U.S. is hosting games in the following 11 cities: Atlanta; Boston; Dallas; Houston; Kansas City; Los Angeles; Miami; New York and New Jersey; Philadelphia; Seattle; and San Francisco and the Bay Area.
Of all the host cities listed above, cities such Boston, Dallas, Los Angeles and Miami are hosting games outside the official city limits. The San Francisco games will take place at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, which FIFA lists as taking place in the Bay Area.
As the creator noted, the Boston games are actually taking place at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, which is a suburb around 22 miles from Boston. FIFA has scheduled the Dallas games to be played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Additionally, FIFA slotted the Los Angeles game at SoFi Stadium in the nearby city of Inglewood, California. The Miami game will take place in a suburb called Miami Gardens at Hard Rock Stadium.
