A river of red wine in the streets of Portugal!
An ecological disaster was narrowly averted.

More than 600,000 gallons of red wine were spilled on the streets of a small coastal town in Portugal during an incident involving the Levira distillery.

The spectacular images were captured by residents of São Lorenco de Bairro, a small town of almost 2,000 inhabitants, as the streets were completely flooded with the red liquid!

According to the New York Post, two tanks belonging to the Levira distillery suddenly broke. The cause of the failure was still unknown at the time of writing.

Still according to the New York Post, an ecological catastrophe was narrowly averted, as firefighters managed to divert the wine into a field rather than a river!
