Despite controversy, Musk is putting Grok in Tesla vehicles

Billionaire Elon Musk has announced that his controversial artificial intelligence, Grok, will be integrated into all Tesla vehicles within the next few days.

This announcement comes shortly after an update aimed at making Grok “less woke”, which led the AI to utter antisemitic insults and nickname itself “MechaHitler” in a series of messages that, in other circumstances, would no doubt have provoked a worldwide outcry.

“We’ve improved @Grok significantly,” Elon Musk said on his social network shortly before his AI began praising Hitler.

After several hours of silence following these posts, and with X CEO Linda Yaccarino announcing her departure in a coincidence that was troubling to say the least, the messages deemed “inappropriate” were finally removed from the platform.

The controversy, which hasn’t seemed to let up with Tesla’s CEO in recent months, has taken a disgusting turn with the recent Grok debacle.

Elon Musk tried to minimize the seriousness of the anti-Semitic and pro-Hitler comments generated by his AI, claiming that Grok had become too “compliant”, too “eager to please” and easily “manipulated” with its latest update.

It’s hard to say whether integrating Grok into Tesla vehicles, whose worldwide sales have fallen sharply in recent months, partly due to the controversies surrounding Elon Musk and increased competition in the electric car sector, could have represented positive leverage for the company. However, the worrying drift of this AI since its last update raises serious doubts about the beneficial impact of this decision.
