Donald Trump has chosen Ohio Senator JD Vance as his running mate for the 2024 presidential election.

JD Vance will celebrate his 40th birthday in August. He contrasts with Trump (78) and Joe Biden (81).

If elected, JD Vance will be the third-youngest vice president in U.S. history.

Vance’s youth and background as a Marine Corps veteran of the Iraq War bring both vigor, as well as military experience, to the ticket. Vance, who is known for his populist views, aligns himself with Trump’s “America First” ideology.

He opposed U.S. aid to Ukraine and, in protest, filibustered Biden’s judicial nominations confirmation process.

Vance’s inclusion on the ticket represents the culmination of months of speculation. The initial list of candidates was reduced from a dozen to just six. The likes of North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum and Florida Senator Marco Rubio were the final two candidates. Vance’s ideological commitment and relationship with the Trump family were decisive.

Vance’s candidacy was also supported by influential figures such as Donald Trump Jr.

Vance’s relationship with Mr. Trump got off to a rocky start.

Mr. Vance, who initially criticized Mr. Trump, later joined him.

A good decision for him, it seems.
