The newspaper reported that Trump and his allies had allegedly tried to block the posting of details of a purported birthday card sent to Jeffrey Epstein on his 50th birthday, in which Trump allegedly inscribed an enigmatic message accompanied by a felt-tip drawing of a naked woman.

In his complaint, Trump accuses Rupert Murdoch, the Wall Street Journal, Dow Jones, News Corp and two journalists of defamation for publishing an article he calls “totally false”, accusing him of having sent an obscene birthday card to Jeffrey Epstein.

Trump also denounced the article as a deliberate attempt to damage his political reputation.

Following the publication of the Wall Street Journal article, the president claimed on Truth Social that he had personally warned Rupert Murdoch that the story was, in his opinion, entirely fabricated.
