Austin Butler appreciates the support ofElvis Presley‘s family.
The man who had the almost impossible task of playing Elvis Presley on screen seems to have taken up the challenge with brio in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, if the King‘s family is to be believed.
And it is for the latter that Austin Butler had accepted this bigger than life role, and the actor reveals to the New York Times to be very moved by the reaction of it, even admitting that the support of Lisa Marie Presley for the film and his performance had him “moved to tears”.
“I want everybody to love the film, obviously, but the pressure I have really felt is doing justice to Elvis. The positive response from Lisa Marie Presley brought me to tears,” he says.
Presley had publicly praised Austin Butler’s performance on the sidelines of a special screening of the film, even going so far as to praise the actor on Twitter , calling his performance “unprecedented, accurate and respectful,” while predicting an Oscar win for Butler.
In my humble opinion, his performance is unprecedented and FINALLY done accurately and respectfully. (If he doesn’t get an Oscar for this, I will eat my own foot, haha.) pic.twitter.com/qrcj3N1yhy
