J.D. Vance booed by members of a firefighters’ union

J.D. Vance, Donald Trump’s running mate, provoked a striking reaction during his speech to the International Association of Fire Fighters in Boston.

Addressing the firefighters’ union, he was greeted by loud boos, a particularly noisy welcome that was widely shared on socials.

Before beginning his speech, Vance declared that his audience was made up of “fans” and “detractors” as he seemed surprised by the tumultuous reception he received.

The reaction to Vance contrasts sharply with that reserved for Kamala Harris’ running mate Tim Walz, who spoke to the same union the day before.

Walz was warmly applauded throughout his speech, during which he spoke of his work as governor of Minnesota and his commitment to the rights of firefighters and unions.

Vance went on to tout his and Trump’s campaigns as pro-worker, prompting a response from the crowd: “Trump and I are proud to be the most pro-worker Republican ‘ticket’ in history.”

J.D. Vance’s statement drew loud boos from the audience. The official Twitter account of Vice President Kamala Harris mocked the reception given to the Republican candidate on social networks.

Competition is intense between the two parties, as each seeks to win union support during the election campaign.

However, the Boston Firefighters Union’s response to Vance indicates that Trump and his running mate still have some way to go.
