“Don’t worry, you’re next.”

J.K. Rowling received death threats after tweeting a message of support for author Salman Rushdie, who was stabbed and remains hospitalized with serious injuries from the attack, Rolling Stone reported.

The Harry Potter author was among countless public figures who shared their best wishes for Rushdie.

But, after Rowling wrote about the attack:

“Feeling very sick right now. Please let him be OK.”

A Twitter user responded, “Don’t worry, you are next.”

The author initially contacted Twitter customer service about the man’s threats. The latter’s account showed tweets hailing Hadi Matar, the man arrested in the attack.

J.K. Rowling later mentioned to her followers that “the police are involved.”

A Police Scotland spokesman said:

Warner Bros. Discovery, the current rights holders of the Harry Potter film franchise, released a statement condemning the threats made against JK Rowling.
